OpenOffice.org doesn't open files from NTFS slice

Post by axvk »

I'am trying to use FreeBSD 6.3 as desctop system. OpenOffice 2.3.1 was installed from ready package, not from ports. Well, the problem is when I trying to open any file from my NTFS slices It shows message in russian (it's russian version), something like "Operation <full filemane> started using wrong parameter".
To mount NTFS I use ntfs-3g.
I was trying Writer and Calc - the result is the same.

Can anyone tell me what this error means? What I need to look at?

Can you, with other software, read and write files in this partition? Can you try with a file and its complete path which do not contain any blank space? Can you open files normally if they are located in another partition?

I can read and write any file by, for example, KWrite. Even if there is russian symbols in tha path. I was trying to open by Openoffice dialog, It's the same. No spaces and no not english symbols in the path.

Openoffice opens any file from Freebsd partitions and working fine. And if I'll try to open file from NTFS partition with "read-only" checked it opens!

No one can help me? May be someone know what disk operations does Openoffice when opens file? Creating some back-ups or temporary files or something? Nobody here knows how Openoffice works?

We are just users helping other users, no developers here. See the Survival Guide for the forum.

Try with a path containing only standard characters (instead of Russian ones). OOo has had some troubles with paths, perhaps it's linked. Else, you can ask the devs by filing a bug report: [Tutorial] Reporting bugs.
