OO.o 2.4.1 scheduled release date

The next bug fix release, version 2.4.1 was given a scheduled release date today.

Thanks for the info, but i'm looking more towards the release of OOo v3.0

I believe you may be in the majority with that idea.

However, there are some people still running Win98 ( Yes there really is ) and with 3.0 dropping Win98 as a supported platform they may be interested.

You could try out 3.0 beta, which has just been released. At long last I can (easily) add titles to my charts secondary axis.

Hi. I got the notification yesterday that 2.4.1 is available now. I'm wondering, is there a due date for the new version 3.0 release yet? Thinking about holding off until then. Any ideas?

Thanks Drew. Went to the Wiki, good information. One question is why are they going to be putting some features out as Extensions instead of incorporating it into the release? To make it optional for individuals to decide if they want the features or not?
What do you think, go for the 2.4.1 or wait until the final version of 3.0 is ready for release in Sept?
I really like the OpenOffice.org. I'm always telling friends and family members about it then they can try it out themselves and see which they prefer. Me? I'm sticking with this. I'm constantly learning. Either by reading the forums, asking questions or where ever I can get the information.
I have always gotten great responses here in the forums. I thank everyone for the help that they have given me in the past and probably in the future also. As I said I'm always learning.

Many reasons including
1. It's cost less development time
2. It does not bloat the main package
3. What you said
4. It improves the extension ecosystem.
5. It makes OpenOffice.org more extensible for everyone. To make some of these extensions possible, OpenOffice.org itself had to be improved.

Everyone's needs are different. If what you have now works, continue to use it. If you think the newer version is better, upgrade. For example, I think my wife is still using 2.3.1 because it does what she needs.

Well anyway, it is nice to think the powers that be are always on top of things with Open Office. I hope that ethos continues indefinitely within open sourcery.

Thanks Weatherlawyer! That is a very interesting site you show. A lot of information there. I saw quite a few articles that I want to read. Bookmarked it. Yes does seem like somehow something got put in. I like the way that somehow Open source seems to manage to get their fixes and updates out faster. I've noticed that on a few other open source products. Don't know why someone wants to mess up others computers. For some people computers are hard to come by and then when they do get one there's seems to be someone who wants to mess it up for them. Such is life though. Always have to try to be on guard for things.
