AOO Calc Keyboard Latency

Post by djl47 »

I noticed tonight that there is extreme keyboard latency and high CPU consumption whenever I am typing in a cell that already has a fair amount of text. I didn't notice this until this evening but don't remember if I attempted to revise any such cells before today. The latency is on the order of seconds per keystroke and renders Calc unusable. I pasted the text into Write and there was no latency. I pasted the text into a cell of an empty spreadsheet and there was no latency. Has anyone else seen such behavior?

My first thought is that this is not a new problem.

I haven't done any tests, but I have tried to work with sheets containing long text strings (think of a good sized book with each paragraph in a cell) and I remember working with it was very slow and unpleasant.

Aproximately 1700 bytes. I have never seen this issue in the Windows version. And yes, I have a a spreadsheet that resembles a book with modest paragraph in each cell.
