Try repairing or reinstalling AOO 4.0.1. The file "openoffice401.msi" should not be in C:\Windows\Installer. The msi files stored in that location are renamed with random names. They don't have the original file name like "openoffice 401.msi".

I ran the recovery tool windows 8. Reinstalled the apps, and downloaded the open office 4.1.0, and installed successfully. I believe there was some error in windows (windows installer or other) record. Ja resolved. thank you all.
