To export as PDF, select the menu File -> Export as PDF. A little dialog will appear with a bunch of options you probably don't have to worry about. Just click the Export button near the bottom of the dialog. You will then have a PDF version in the same location as the original document.
Another way to export as PDF is to click the PDF button on the tool bar, which I've outlined in red in this image.

Re: [Solved] How to convert .odt to .PDF, .doc, or .dat form
I request .pdf format in the options for File-> Save as... dialogue. That is the most obvious place to look for it. Since it was not there I started Googling ways to save .odt files as .pdf and almost bought software to do it.
It did not occur to me to look on the menu bar itself. It is REALLY great that it is there, but that would have been the last place I would have looked to save a file as .pdf.
That would make it MUCH more user friendly!
And thanks again to everyone who makes this amazing software!!!
Yahweh bless you all!

Re: [Solved] How to convert .odt to .PDF, .doc, or .dat form
When you "Save As" a file, the original file is closed and the saved file remains open in Writer. When you "Export" a file, a copy of the file is saved, and the original file remains open in Writer. Since Writer can't open PDF files, "Export" must be used instead of "Save As".
