[Solved] VCL Resource missing

Post by Isabella59 »

Hello,
I just downloaded OO4 on Red Hat 6, used the GUI-installer in the desktop-integration directory. I'm new to Linux.
I get the message that a VCL resource(s) is / are missing. Shouldn't those come along with the package(s)?
despite the entry at the bottom of the page, I never used OO before, it's a first-time installation.
Greetings,
Isabella :?:

Hello too,

Are you sure to have downloaded a dedicated build for Linux?
Your message seems bind to Windows systems.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

You should install from the standard package manager, see: [Tutorial] Installing Apache OpenOffice on GNU/Linux.

Please add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

Hi,
thx for the quick response. I downloaded the Linux 64 RPM. I'm dead-sure, because I just checked on my system under "Add/Remove Software" and the packages are there. However, the Language Modules are listed, but not checked, meaning they are not installed, right?
Kind regards,

Hi folks,

post-installing the language packs did the trick. Office is up and running. Heeee-haw!
Re-reading the message word by word set me off. The keyword was "localization". :bravo:

Have you installed the correct language packs? I mean same version?
How have you installed AOO exactly?
