[Solved] Change Symphony Icons to OO Icons for documents

Post by jryandunlap »

After upgrading from OpenOffice 3.4 to 4.0, the icons on all my OpenOffice documents turned into Symphony document icons. How do I remove the Sympnony icons for these documents and change the default icons for OO documents, (writer, calc, etc.) to OO icons?

I hope someone more knowledgeable can give you a specific suggestion, but here's my guess ...

How did you perform the upgrade?

You may be able to simply uninstall the desktop-integration rpm; at least that's where I'd start.

Alternatively, you can try poking around in /usr/share/mime-info

First I used YUM to uninstalls 3.4. After the uninstall the symphony icons appeared (I previously had symphony installed along with Notes client, but had unstalled symphony before using AOO). I then performed the upgrade by installing the RPM's directly (downloaded the .tar files from AOO). I'll try your suggestions and let you know the result. Thanks!

How do I mark that as resolved? I do not know what happened as I did not make any changes, but the system eventually (after a couple days) updated the icons.
