[Solved] Font size way too big in OO 1. OO 2 is fine but

I am really new to OO, even though I have had 1.x
on one of my two Linux computers for a year or so.
Up to now I have had little occasion to use it.
However, I recently decided that after 25 years of
coding on PCs I needed to learn to use a spreadsheet.

I first attempted this on my second Linux box, but
encountered there a strange problem: when I bring up
Calc it uses such a large font that I only can see
about two and a fraction of the menu items.
(File Edit and part of View, I think).

I downloaded and installed OO2 on this second box
and found that it comes up just fine. However, as
I stumble through trying to learn how to use Calc it
frequently hangs the system. (The file recovery
feature works well).

I suspect that if I could get OO1 to display properly
on this box it would be more stable and would be just
fine for learning purposes, but I cannot figure out
how to adjust the font size.

I have seen suggestions that such problems might be
related to the video driver being used. Since
I bought the monitor on this box used, and have been
able to find little or no documentation on it, I had
to regard that as a real possibility. But since OO2
hasn't a problem with it I am not so sure it is a
driver issue.

Does OO1 have a config file somewhere that I could
edit to fix this ? Any help would be appreciated.
The OS on this box is Red Hat 9, and it has 320 meg
ram.

Never mind.

It turns out that OO 1 apparently reacts to the DPI settings in the advanced tab of 'system settings' 'display' in RH 9.
OO 2 apparently uses something else, for I found that I could change these settings for the benefit of OO 1 without
effecting operation of OO 2. So I can now run both, and indeed OO 1 seems more stable.
