GreatPlains Smartlist Builder Problem.

Post by nlekopites »

Seems Microsoft is making strides to foil integration.

In Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 there is an addon supplement called Smartlist builder from Microsoft that exports data from Microsoft Dynamics GP to excel files. I have been unable to use this app. with the open office installed. Microsoft product checks to see if Microsoft Excel is installed, if it is installed then the export happens to a file which can be opened by the open office. If it is not it kills it right then and there with an error message that says microsoft excel is not installed even if open office is.

Need help. Am a LAN admin and not getting this working means a cost of $10,000 plus in microsoft licensing as I would have to buy 1 complete office package per seat on the terminal services server.

Thanks,

What can we do? Ask Microsoft to offer export in .csv format, to remove the check that Excel is installed or contact a Microsoft user forum and ask your question there.

Certainly the people who selected that tool in your company have not done a thorough job!
