I am interested mainly in using the "Writer" portion of OpenOffice, but when I tried to type nothing appears on my screen. Only the open format with area for word processing blank, no matter what key I hit.
I had checked off MS Word (Winword) as one of the 3 default opening programs. How do I go back and un-check that preference? Frankly,I was having trouble using my Word 2000 in MS Office 2000. That's why I switched to OpenOffice at the recommendation of a member of my photo BB.
I'd appreciate any help getting to an alternate application to my MS Word (Winword) that got messed up by Norton anti-virus 360 that I installed , and recently un-installed.;

Re: Problem writing any letters or numbers in Writer.
Somehow "Writer" is now working fine. I guess I was not registered at the time I first tried using "Writer" format.
Thanks for looking in. Sorry I started of in the Open Office Community Forum, by stumbling across the threshold.
