"The Extension "PDF-Import" does not work on this computer"
Downloaded the 4.0 deb from the official site. extracted with the gui, dpkg'd in the terminal. Installed correctly. Can access files, can create content, can install other extensions as far as I can see. Cannot install Oracle PDF-Import. Even tried sudo apt-get install openoffice.org-pdfimport with no luck. Message is
"Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package openoffice.org-pdfimport
E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'openoffice.org-pdfimport'"

There is a version specific to AOO 4.0 at
http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/node/17351
Be aware that PDF import is intended to allow very minor cosmetic adjustments to PDF files; if you wish to do major editing or restructuring of a PDF file you should seek and use a more powerful tool.

Re: PDF-Import add-on failure
The link RoryOF provided worked for me, although OO crashed the first time I tried to open a pdf. After killing and restarting OO, it seems to work fine.
Note that OO extensions are installed through the built-in extension manager, not through the system package management. Just download the .oxt file (it's actually a zip archive) and (in OO) either FIle > Open it, or use Tools > Extension Manager > Add ...

Re: PDF-Import add-on failure
Also, if it downloads as a .zip, you should rename it to .oxt. Some browsers (particularly Internet Explorer in many versions) silently rename .oxt files to .zip.
