macros and writing to cells

Hi,
I am writing a simple macro and wish to fill some cells. I have an example from an Excel spreadsheet which uses the "Cells(1,1) = 200" format as an example.

I can't seem to do this in openoffice, i.e 'cells' is not a valid function. (I do see however other specific functions from OO to do this), but the project is for university and I have to submit as an XLS file so I'd like to be able to use 'Cells' function.

is there some information on the compatibility of writing to cells across OO and XLS ?

Sorry, the macro languages between OO.o and MS Office are not compatible. Anything you find out about how to address a particular cell in OO.o will not translate when you save as XLS format.
