Hi,
I've defined a new page style and got it in my standard template (as I see when I re-open the template). But when I open a new document based on this standard template (according to File - Properties), the new page style is missing. How can that be?
I'm not very adept at handling templates so it may be some elementary mistake of mine, but I can't figure it out.

Is your Stylist (F11) set to show All Styles or Applied Styles (dropdown at bottom of Stylist window)?

It's set to All Styles (but it's F11, not F5).

Then I have no suggestion - I'm not a frequent Template user. Perhaps some other volunteer will have a suggestion.
I have corrected my shortcut reference for the Stylist - I'm deafened by outside noise at present which stops me thinking clearly.

"Solved" isn't quite the right term; the problem has simply ceased to exist...No wonder no one could think of anything else to say about it.

Sometimes completely stopping and restarting OpenOffice (easiest way is by a computer restart) can cause things to appear. For example, OpenOffice reads the font list at its startup, so fonts installed after OpenOffice (or OO Quickstarter) has started, do not show. Ditto, as far as I remember, Printers. if a Printer is powered on after OO has started, OO may not see it.

Well it's certainly not enough to end OO and restart it because I'd tried that often enough. Must have been the system reboot that did it.

File > Exit then restarting OO is not effective. OO installs something called the "quickstarter" that keeps the bulk of OO loaded and running even after you exit the application. It's supposed to make OO quicker to start because it never really exits. Unfortunately, it also prevents OO from completely refreshing all the settings unless you also tell the quickstarter to exit.
It's easier to simply log out of the system and log in again, or just reboot everything to be absolutely sure.
