How do I istall OpenOffice On Joli?

Post by MemoryShock »

Hi. This might seem like a basic question Hi and I am kind of embarrassed (I don't even know if this is the right place to post this).

This might seem like a basic question but I am trying to learn the Joli OS, which is pretty cool, yet am having trouble installing Open Office onto my computer. Joli is the only OS on the computer and I can get as far as extraction but have no idea how to get to the point where the program is operable beyond that.

Some help would be greatly appreciated. I am a Windows user who is trying to expand horizons and I apologize for what is likely a very basic question.

Thank you...Ryan

Greetings and welcome to the community forum!

You may have to ask on a Joli support channel--I know I have no idea what to suggest, and the web site www.jolicloud.com seems entirely devoid of any technical details.

It seems to use Ubuntu as the basic code, so I'd suggest installing OpenOfficeas if on Ubuntu. Details are given in
[Tutorial] Installing OpenOffice on Ubuntu, Debian and Co.

Note that, if LibreOffice is delivered as part of JoliOS it is best (essential?) to uninstall that before installing OpenOffice. In normal Ubuntu and derivatives this is easiest by using Synaptic to uninstall all libreoffice-core and associated files.
