'Insert' icon in center of image; how to hide it?

Post by SimSportPlyr »

When viewing a PPS presentation, I have an icon in the center of the image for inserting a table, chart, picture, or movie.

How can I hide this icon?

Thanks.

By the way, I've attached a screen shot of the icon in question. I hope it displays ok. It was tricky to get the file size sufficiently small for the forum to allow the attachment.

No need to post a 1546x2754 pixels picture all blank except the tiny icon! Just crop it. I've edited your attachment.

This icon should not display in slideshow AFAIK. Can you upload a sample file? Do you see a gray border in that area? The icon can be at its center, selecting the border should allow you to delete the whole thing.

Hagar Delest -

Sorry for the tiny image. Obviously, I'm a forum idiot.

I sent you a PM.

Thanks for the reply.

Click on the appropriate quarter of the icon and it will open the dialog to insert the picture, table, chart or movie, depending on the quarter you selected. The icon will then have served its purpose as a shortcut and will vanish. Depending which Master page you use, you will be offered the icon or not.

If you are still using the Master Page that presents the icon you may see two outline areas - a large lightly dotted rectangle enclosing the icon, and a smaller rectangle at top of page with a message "Click to add title" (or similar). Click on the lightly dotted recangle which should select, becoming heavier, with 8 green handles shown. Now Press Delete, Or just Right click on the unselected rectangle; it will select and a popup menu will offer you the option to Cut it (equivalent to Delete); choosing that will remove the rectangle and the icon. The same process will work for the upper rectangle.

If you do not delete the icon/rectangle but enter new text on top of it, it will remain showing beneath your new text. So best to select a default Master Page that suits your design methods.

Did anyone find the solution to deactivate the icon?
