[Solved] Tools > Options > *Office > Security

Post by piehole »

I feel like I'm going crazy.

My ultimate goal is to split my database. Instructions here http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/FAQ_(Base)#HSQLDB and, much more excitingly, here http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/vi ... 83&t=61183 start with variations on the instructions, "Open the Tools > Options dialog."

I'm using OO 3.4.1, HSQLDB 1.8.0.10, on Mac OS X v. 10.7.5, and when I click "Tools" there's no "Options" dialog. I'm attaching screenshots for your amusement.

From the main OO open screen:

With a database open:

What is going on????

Interesting.
Apparently the Options dialog is accessed differently on a Mac.

Here's the Windows steps:
Tools > Options
Tools > Options
Tools > Options > Security
Tools > Options > Security
Tools > Options > Security > Macro Security Dialog
Tools > Options > Security > Macro Security Dialog
AOO 4.1.x; LO 4.2.x; Windows 7/8 64-bit
Warning: Avoid embedded databases --> Solution: Adopt a portable 'split database' folder
Soli Deo gloria

On a mac the menu is under OpenOffice.org -> Preferences. Or so I have read.
