Is there an OO app that will open a .pub document please?
OpenOffice 4.1.1 English UK on MacOS 10.10.1

No. Try http://www.zamzar.com for a free conversion service. I'm not certain if it handles MS Publisher files., but have a look.

Thanks RoryOF. It didn't show up in a Search but somebody gave a solution in January. Scribus is a free download to be found here:

Remember that with any file conversion, there is always likely to be some adjustment needed in the layout.

Without seeing the solution you mentioned, I suspect that Scribus was suggested as an alternative to MS Publisher, since both are desktop publishing tools. As far as I know, Scribus does not actually open or import MS Publisher files.
