[Solved] Update existing AOO on Debian
[Solved] Update existing AOO on Debian
Hi
Version 3.4.0 is installed and needs to be updated.
After download of newer version and dpkg -i *.deb the existing AOO is not being replaced, although installation process seems to complete OK.
What to do?

Re: Update existing AOO on Debian
There is a second step after the sudo dpkg -i *.deb where you cd desktop-integration and once again sudo dpkg -i *.deb. That makes the links to the new package in the Office folder.

No desktop-integration folder in the tar.gz file downloaded.

Maybe you downloaded a development build? Try downloading the latest version (follow the link bottom right on this page).orangeli wrote:No desktop-integration folder in the tar.gz file downloaded.

It's by design to avoid troubles with the dev version. It's not for production so the installation can't create the file association.
But you can do that yourself if really needed. Same for the shortcuts.
Personally, I make a copy of an application.desktop file in my home configuration and edit it so that it launches the dev version. Then it appears in the available applications (I use gnome 3).

Re: Update existing AOO on Debian
No idea. But I guess that KDE follows the freedesktop.org rules for the menus.
So try with the application.desktop file in your home folder and see if KDE detects this new entry.

Right click on the Kickoff (the app launcher) icon → Edit: there it is possible to create any new entry for your menus. Once you do that, you need to rebuild the app database (the easiest way is to log-out and then log-in again) and after that also krunner will recognize the new entry on the menu.orangeli wrote:Can you please explain how to do that in KDE?
