[Solved] Copy error

Post by tbxnol »

Hello friends,
this is my 1. post, and may be not the last one.
I actually have downloaded the latest OO-Version 2.4 and could install it successfully on my WINXP PC. I want to transfer the setup file to my laptop which has no internet connection.
Now I've got the same problem as before with version 2.3

I/O hardware error

while copying the 130MB file to my sd flash card for transfer to the laptop. It's not the file size which is critical, for I've got a 544MB setup file from Microsoft for Vista update to SP1 and could transfer it in the same way without any problems. It must be something special with that OOo_2.4.0_Win32Intel_install_wJRE_de.exe.
What can do?
Fritz

When do you get that message? In the middle of the transfer? Before it starts?
Have you tried to zip it (just a trick to change the file format).
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.

Many Thanks! That trick has worked.
Now I could install Version 2.4 on my laptop without any problem. There is VISTA running, and I wonder how it unzipped my file. I only "opened" it in WIN Explorer by mouse and got the setup file at the desired place by drag&drop only. I didn't see any program working...

Windows XP and Windows Vista have a built-in ZIP file support.

However, working with third party tools is much more convenient IMHO. There are also very good free tools like 7-ZIP.
