I installed OO3.4 after deinstalling LibreOffice with Ubuntu software center.
No errors until depackaging the .deb in directory desktop-intergration.

After that I deinstalled with command sudo apt-get remove libreoffice*.* which found some more to be removed.
Then trying above again I got following, which looked fine to me:
ruud@TABLET-UBUNTU:~/Downloads/nl/DEBS/desktop-integration$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Re: how to start OO after install?
Hi and welcome to the forum!
You should find it in the applications list. I use Gnome 3.6 and I just have to type "open" to have the list of the AOO components (once you've hit the hot corner). Don't remember how it works exactly with Unity.
Please add '[Solved]' at the beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

The OpenOffice components should show up in the Office folder (where LibreOffice components formerly lived). I use Classic Gnome.
