[Solved] OpenOffice for Mac 10.4.11 PPC
[Solved] OpenOffice for Mac 10.4.11 PPC
Hello,
I have the current OpenOffice 3.4.1 on my laptop (Mac OS 10.6.8).
I can't use it on my Power Mac G5 (OS 10.4.11 PPC) because the current version is Intel only.
Is it possible to download an older version of OpenOffice compatible with OS 10.4.11 PPC?
If so, from where is it available?
Thank you,
Bob

Hello RPG and Igusaas,
Thank you for the links, both appear to be exactly what I'm looking for!
Is there any difference between LibreOffice and OpenOffice?

Hello
It seems me off topic in this thread for more details.

The most important difference for you is: Libreoffice support PPC.bob_catch wrote:Is there any difference between LibreOffice and OpenOffice?

Hello RPG
This comment doesn't make sense to me. The OpenOffice version Igusaas has suggested also supports PPCRPG wrote:The most important difference for you is: Libreoffice support PPC.

Re: OpenOffice for Mac 10.4.11 PPC
The version I gave a link to is an old version of OOo released on 09-Mar-2011. It was the last version released for PPC Macs. OpenOffice.org 3.3 was not released for PPC Mac. Apache OpenOffice does not have versions for PPC Macs.bob_catch wrote:Hello RPGThis comment doesn't make sense to me. LibreOffice, a derivative clone of OpenOffice, continues to support PPC Macs in its latest releases.

Re: OpenOffice for Mac 10.4.11 PPC
Hello Igusaas,
Thanks,
Bob
Thanks for the further information. I now have to decide which one to download for my Mac 10.4.11 PPC. Do you know if LibreOffice is as good as OpenOffice? Given my situation, which would you go for?lgusaas wrote: The version I gave a link to is an old version of OOo released on 09-Mar-2011. It was the last version released for PPC Macs. On this forum volunteers use both OpenOffice and/or LibreOffice, as they decide. I doubt you will see any notable difference between one and the other.

Hello RoryOF,
Thanks for your comment. In that case I think I'll opt for LibreOffice since it's still being developed for PPC Macs like mine.
