[Solved] LO 3.6.1 export to pdf picture issue

Post by dreamquartz »

I run LO 3.6.1 now on both Win 7 Pro and Ununbtu 12.04.1, and on both the same problem.
I have a odt created by previous LO version, and now, when trying to export it to pdf all small pictures are wrecked.
The are either very large, or partially visable.
Full page pictures are great.
When printing to pdf-format, the pdf-file looks way better, but links do not work.

I literally took a graphic and placed it in the file via normal route, so nothing has been done which would indicate that that would be a problem.

What could be the problem?

Dream

Edit: Not Applicable Anymore; moved to newer version of LO

And does it work with AOO?

LibO doesn't seem to be very stable in the first and even second release, it may be a new bug.

Can you upload a sample file so that we test it?

At this point it appears that the export to pdf looks at the actual size of the picture, instead of the scaled size.
It does not included the scale settings for the picture.
I tried to find what happened, and one of the things I did was to resize pictures to the size used in the document, and that seems to work.

It is not a 100% clear, but is what it appears to be.
Am still searching for the exact problem.

It looks like a bug.

Hagar,

I don't run AOO. I only run LO.

What prevents you to install AOO to compare? They can run in parallel? Even on *ubuntu (but requires more work because you have to install both suites with their packages from their web sites and not from the software center.

I know what you are saying, but I am actually just a user of office software for our company.
We made the decision to use only LO, to avoid any confusion.

So, if someone else can check to see if this is an issue on AOO, you are happy to do so.
Please report to this thread, so I can hopefully find a solution.

It took a while to figure out how to create a good example, but attached you will find them.
What I am missing is a real resize function, instead of a scale-type resize. It appears that how ever you approach it, the scale-factor is always included.
ODT-file:
I have two pictures. One, the green traffic light, is an original, placed in the document via a previous version. This is a picture which is scaled.
The second picture, the red traffic-light, was copied from the original document to LO-Draw, saved as an odg-file, and copied into Writer as an odg-file.
The size of the red traffic-light can be resized (at least that is what it appears to be) to the required size (note that there is no scaling function available).
The odt-file is exported to the pdf.
PDF-file:
When clicking the top, black unrecognizable, picture in Acrobat, it shows a rectangle, the size of the area of the red traffic-light.
When copying and pasting this top, black unrecognizable, picture into Draw or Writer, it shows a black background with a green circle in the middle at the bottom.
The red traffic-light was apparently not resized in Writer, because it is shown in the original size.

The pdf exported from your sample .odt works fine for me; it looks just like the editing view in Writer.

Is there some other issue? I'm not sure I follow what all you're looking for.

I see the same as dreamquartz with LO 3.6.1 after PDF export on WIN 7. This appears to me to be a bug in LO 3.6.1.

At this point in time I downgraded to LO 3.5.6, so that I can manipulate the documents I need, the way I want to.
With this version the export does work.

I leave the issue open for now, and will get back to it.
I do want to move to LO 3.6, because of the CorelDraw import.
