I have a grid that includes various different borders and cells with varying text color. When I copy a single cell and paste into the rest of the cells on a line [for example], the borders and format of the copied cell are copied as well into each individual pasted cell.
How do I copy data only without format and borders? Or copy data and format [like changng text color to that of source cell] without borders?

I don't know for certain, but try /Edit /Paste Special.

Tried that, no selection for 'data only' at a minimum

Uncheck Paste All and keep only Text and Number.
