I have a new job, back in GIS, so I will not be around here much after Friday, and probably not often before then, due to hand-over. Many, many thanks to all those who have humoured & enlightened me. Good luck with the future, and carry on enjoying both learning & teaching.
Cheers,
Huw
Finally, here are a few notes I have found useful, as much for me in the future as anyone:
Use your votes. Once an issue number is crossed out on the list - move those votes to another issue. Encourage others to do the same - there are currently 2363 resolved or closed issues with votes wasted on them, or over 11,000 wasted votes. Just the 627 closed or resolved with 3 or more votes currently total up to 8322 wasted votes!
Get the hang of Issue Tracker (IssueZilla) queries. It's a beast, but it's the best we have.
Remember to search summary and description.
Save a query which finds all the issues you have reported, are CC on, have commented on, etc.
In the results, change the output columns & sort by Changed date.
Always include steps to reproduce when reporting an issue.
Beware of issues identically affecting more than one component. Most will be reported for just Writer or Calc. Some will be reported for Framework. Allow for this when searching.
