Hi,
Where can I find FreeType fonts to download and use? After reading this thread and discovering that OOo has some issues with rendering TrueType fonts, or at least the primary one I use (Century Gothic), I'd like to replace the TT fonts I use with some FT fonts (e.g. something as similar as possible to Century Gothic). All I can find is a font engine called FreeType 2 and many TT font download sites.
Thanks.
P.S. I'm using OOo 2.4.0 on a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine.

As I understand it, FreeType is a font engine that supports .ttf and Type 1.

Try DejaVu Sans, already shipped with OpenOffice.

Oh, I was under the mistaken impression that FreeType was a font alternative to TrueType, like another file type. The Century Gothic link is broken on this site, but thanks anyway.Robert Tucker wrote:As I understand it, FreeType is a font engine that supports .ttf and Type 1... For Century Gothic (ttf) try...
Thanks, it does look something like Century Gothic.Bhikkhu Pesala wrote:Try DejaVu Sans, already shipped with OpenOffice.

Is there a way to know beforehand which fonts will work fine in OOo and which won't? Or is it just a matter of trial and error?

It downloaded the files, but Windows reported them as "damaged" and refused to install them in the Fonts folder. It figures the ones I want don't work. I did download several other neat fonts there that work fine in both OOo and MS Office, though.Robert Tucker wrote:Try right-clicking on the link and "Save link as..."
