[Solved] Where I can download old version of OOo

Post by manyray »

Hi,

I have an application which use open office to convert documents into other format but I have a problem with the version 3.3 of open office.
When I open a ppsx document with open office there is a windows which ask me to select a filter.
I need a way to set openoffice to open all ppsx document automaticaly with the MS office 2007 filter because my application failed when open office request to select the filter. With OOo version 3.2 I don't have this behaviour.

Do you know where I can download open office version 3.2 en ? or how can I set openoffice to open all ppsx document automaticaly with the MS office 2007 filter ?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum!

See http://www.filehippo.com/download_openoffice/ for older versions.
Don't forget to reset your OOo user profile, 3.3.0 introduced some changes that may cause troubles if you downgrade.

Don't know any way to tell OOo to use a MS Office 2007 filter to open ppsx. If you need to work with such format, use MS Office, that's all. Welcome to the vendor lock-in policy!

Better avoid the OOXML format, have a look at: MS Office 2007 OOXML file format (docx, xslx, pptx, ppsx).
Standards like ODF (native format for OOo) have been designed for interoperability. OOXML has not bee designed for that. MS will continue the vendor lock-in policy to keep their market shares...

The link posted by Hagar is spammy

Filehippo has LOTS of banners saying "DOWNLOAD" with the SAME design and colors than the website, and the actual download button is smaller, out of the view, and of a different color.

Obviously this person is a troll of that website, (feeding it with victims) and the downloads are not what you want.
"Mark the post as solved". Classy from spammers who want THEIR link to stay forever.

OO has its own good page for downloads: http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html

I'm sorry but using the Adblock Plus extension in Firefox, I don't have any spam item on the filehippo page. For a long while, this was the only site I know that proposed the former versions of AOO/OOo. It may have changed after OOo was donated to the ASF.
Thanks for the pointer anyway.

You should report the moderator team that a spammer is among them.

Archive sources are listed at http://www.openoffice.org/download/archive.html

The Archive Mirror Network has existed as long as I have been using OpenOffice

So I stand corrected.
We used to send users to filehippo for a very long time, perhaps it was not very known. The first hint of the address in this forum is from Nov. 2014. There was a discussion in the past on the AOO mailing list about that. I thought it was at that time that this archive was created (but I had forgotten about that anyway).
