Many opportunities to add short Tutorials or faq's are missed
1. Must have obvious title to be found easily
2. Keep to objectives
3. Use very clear language
4. Difficult to get right
5. Rewards are few

Re: Lost saved message
Not sure what "user control panel" means. Did you try simply starting up Writer again to see if it starts a recovery?
Cheers!

Re: Lost saved message
Because its not a writer doc I was trying to save
Its this doc I'm replying to now, by pressing the save button at the bottom of this editor window
I won't try it now or it may happen again
I'll press submit instead.
I know that works
Many thanx

Re: Lost saved message
why doesn't this happen to other proper people!
I mustn't have saved properly 1st time by confirming yes/no to save instruction. Why it let me get away with that I dont know.
So I wrote my 1st reply and posted it, then tested another save, this time noticing the confirm request.
On opening it in the editor I was only offered save or Reset options (no 'Post Now', as expected) whatever Reset is supposed to do (nothing apparent in my case)
so I saved and thought I could stay in that loop endlessly. Only then did I discover I could load the reply in another editor and continue and post it.
Solved I suppose.
How do you say I append a solved notice??
Yes Its in the FAQ. thanks, I know something at last
Oh and the User Control Panel is at the top left of this page straight below board index
Sorry for the trouble
Not so fast though--- now this editor wont let me submit (whatever next)
Guess I'll just have to let Mr Gates Copy and Paste it back into the forum with any luck
Mike
Sorry Hagar dont know how to do the forum move thing, can you oblige

I'm sorry, heheh. I just assumed that because the OOo version and other information had been filled in on your first post, you were composing your message in Writer, to copy and paste into the forum when you were done. That's what I get for assuming things.
But hey, it's Friday. I'm allowed one.
Cheers!

Re: Lost saved message
There must be a reason for 2 buttons (load::view/edit) for recalling saved messages, but cant think of them, similarly what preview does to require a new editor

Re: Lost saved message[solved-ish]
Here is what it appears to be...from testing it.
You are entering a new topic or a reply and you enter save.
A page comes up and prompts to save 'Yes' or 'No'.
If you switch to another page at this point, without selecting either button ( for instance you click on Board Index ) the default is NO and the draft is NOT saved.
Now about Load / Edit in the draft management section of the user control panel.
If you click on 'Edit/view' you are working on a copy of the post in an editor all by itself - you can not see the topic(s) you might be responding to. Your only options is to abandon your changes or save back to your draft section.
If you click on Load - the the board puts everything back to how it was when you started entering the topic or replying to a topic. You can browse the old topics for instance, and you can now submit your post - or save it again - or cancel it completely.
