Losing data

Post by delunderpar »

Can someone help me with this problem?

1. I create several charts from the same table of data.
2. Save the file.
3. When I re-open the file, the charts are still there. Some appear different from the original, some are the same.
4. The data table is no longer accessible.

Why? How can I prevent this from happening?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your prompt response.

I merely click the save icon. I would need help determining the format.

The format is shown by the three letter file extension.

Can you upload the file (see How to attach a document here)?
Do the data come from an external file?

I really do appreciate your willingness to help me with this matter. However, I must be getting off to work and I cannot, at this time, continue the dialog.

I will log back on later and try to attach the document.

Again, thank you very much for your help.

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the circumstances here.

First, I don't quite see how it's possible to "create several charts from the same table of data". Charts in Writer (the OOo word processor) can only work on data stored within the chart itself. As far as I know, it isn't possible to plot external data, or data from the text document, at all. So, I don't see how the charts could share the same table. Maybe data from the same table is entered for each chart?

The chart data in this case is only accessible when the chart itself is active (double-click on it), then (menu) View > Chart Data Table, or right-click > Chart Data Table.
