[Solved] Stop cursor from blinking?

Post by Agilar »

Is there a way to stop cursor from blinking in Writer on linux (Kubuntu Oneiric)? It would even better to make it also a block.

While not an immediate answer to your question, this thread covers some cursor modifications and may be of help.

There are utilities to change the cursor for Ubuntu (and probably its derivatives) - Google is your friend. Whether these will affect the OOo cursor I cannot say.

Following the nice idea of Bill - I've switeched off kde-blinking (thru the qt4-config package) - kde stoped to blink, but LIbreOffice still do.

For a gnome system:

$ gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/interface/cursor_blink --type boolean False
$ gconftool-2 --set /apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/cursor_blink --type boolean False
$ gconftool-2 --set /apps/gnome-terminal/profiles/Default/cursor_blink_mode --type string off

Changes take effect immediately, there is no need to restart running applications

Tried it again: qtconfig -> Interface -> Flash time -> scroll down till you hit No blinking. I did it both for myself and under root. This time it worked. Probably got fixed meanwhile.
