Yes. The Apache Software Foundation has taken over from Oracle.

I am going to switch to Libre. When I couldn't even get an upgrade for my Open Office, though it kept asking me to upgrade, I lost all confidence in the product. Oracle refused to even talk to me about fixing the problem. My personal opinion is that since it was freeware they couldn't be bothered.

Well since apache will be supporting openoffice soon, ill just wait and see. May be easier than downloading libreoffice and having compatibility issues.

From a file perspective LO and OOo are compatible. LO has a different feature set but the files are 100% interchangeable if your are using the native format.

Your signature says that you have OOo 3.3 which is the current version. No one can help you upgrade OOo 3.3 since no ugrade exists. Are you sure that the upgrade isn't for an extension?

Support for open-source products like OOo is generally through forums and/or mailing lists. You could have asked for help here. If you switch to LO, who is going to provide the the type of individual support that you didn't get from Oracle?
