Recovering documents accidentally closed without saving

Post by Gowerdale »

My daughter has just accidentally closed an important document on which she has been working for several days without saving it, clicking the "discard changes" box when she closed it. She has a much earlier version, but she has lost about 2 days work. Is there any way in which she can recover the document as it was immediately before she closed it? I don't think she has auto back-up installed but I am not completely sure.

There may be a file with peculiar name, such as Afgeq.tmp in the OpenOffice tmp directory. At system level move this out to somewhere safe, rename it as type .odt, and see if it opens.

Bit late now, but if your work is important, save it frequently as you work with different file names, such as something 01, something 02 and so on. Preferably to different folders. And then back them up.
