[Solved] Changing cursor in Writer

Post by dfessenden »

I want to change the cursor in Writer to a bold red. When I am editing a large document, sometimes it's hard to see the cursor. If it was a different color, it would be more visible, I think.

There's no way to change it, that I know of. Even a different color won't help much in some situations.

If I lose the cursor, I usually try two things:
1) wiggle it (press forward, then back arrow), to get it on the screen. Writer can be displaying one page when the cursor is somewhere else.
2) make a selection: press Shift+Up Arrow. This (usually) produces a large, colored highlight at the cursor position.

Still far from perfect, but it can be handy.

On other hand in the system mouse options, you can set to view a circles on the cursor position, with Ctrl key.

Does that work with Writer's editing cursor--the vertical bar?

I don't have nearly as much trouble finding the mouse cursor.

I'm trying to accomplish this on a machine still running Windows XP (OO 4.1.1).

I don't have that option in the control panel.

Is there any other way?

Thanks, Eric

Wow @Bill, that is absolutely brilliant! Thank you!

I rarely think of looking for PC solutions on youtube. Plumbing problems yes, but not software. I need to change that.

Warm regards, Eric
