[Solved] Convert to PDF and keep custom (downloaded )fonts?

Post by redrook »

Well, title says it all really. I need to convert an office doc to PDF, which ive done fine using a free online site, but it doesnt keep my downloaded font for some reason. This is pretty important, so is there a way i can do this? Or is there a way i can embed the font? Thanks in advance folks.

p.s. i tried a search but didnt come up with this.

It doesn't say even half of it. You haven't told us even the basics — which OS and Oo version number you're using, or even if you have it installed, though you posted in the Writer forum so I guess you have Oo installed. Did you produce the DOC in Writer? Why didn't you produce the PDF from Writer? That will embed fonts if the font embedding license allows it. What font is it?

OO'o PDF export always embeds fonts (besides some default fonts like Times, Helvetica, Courier and Symbol). At least, if OOo can handle to font type, which should be TrueType. Which font types are you using?

Marginally off-topic, but: If you have a document that you want to print as a brochure from within OOo I couldn't find a way to export it to PDF from within OOo 2.4 on Windows XP that would come out in the brochure format. It looks like you have to print it to get that option to come active. I found PrimoPDF which is free and installs as a printer driver. So you can go to Print and then select it as a 'printer' and the OOo printer options such as Brochure etc are still available to you.

Anyway, the point is I haven't seen it 'lose' any fonts yet.

XP, oo version 2.3.1. I tried producing the PDF from writer in the first place and it still lost the font, so i tried the online converter. The font is Acoustic Light.

The name of the font is useless. Much more important is, as I already wrote, the font type! Is it a TrueType font? Where did you get it from?

Ok forget it, the Writer pdf exporter seems to be working now. I restarted Writer and today for some reason it has decided to work. This problem is obviouly related to my computer and not writer.
