Maybe
Bug 36285 - LibO 3.4 beta1 – No available language modules, spell check is impossible

[Sorry, should be:]
Bug 37195 - Dictionary access lost after LibO upgrade

If Menu Tools > Options > Language Settings > Writing Aids
'Available language modules'
is empty:
Please try my workaround, described in Bug 36285 37195 - Comment #28 [2011-06-24]

Okay, here the solution:

Updating over 3.4.1 resulted in no spell checker working - apparently nothing installed (no check marks in Options/Language/)
to fix it - we had that already in broken file associations (sigh)

uninstall LO, delete folders in user/AppData and Program Files x86, run CCleaner to remove registry keys, reboot, install LO 3.4.2 RC1 again and all will be well.

Looks to me the Win7 setup is quite hampered a bit...

Uuuh, there is more to it, unfortunately!
Guess what - try LO from an normal user account (non admin) and NO spell checker working!

Long story short LO must run as admin or .. u guess it - what a real mess!

I still guess it's the 'configmgr.ini' bug.

Workaround:
Replacing the obsolete 'configmgr.ini' (user profile) [1]
with the new 'configmgr.ini' (from program) [2].

[1] Path:
'...\<LibO-342>\3\user\extensions\bundled\registry\com.sun.star.comp.deployment.configuration.PackageRegistryBackend\'

[2] Path: '...\Program_Files\<LibO_342>\share\prereg\bundled\registry\com.sun.star.comp.deployment.configuration.PackageRegistryBackend\'

yep, that did the trick!

I copied the .ini file from "Program Files (x86)....." to the affected user's profile overwriting that .ini file in there - speller seems to work now!

thanks a bunch!
