[Solved] I can't import PDF
Libreoffice acts as the PDF Import extension is not installed: PDFs are opened as simple ASCII text. I experienced this problems since Ubuntu 10.10, when I installed Libreoffice DEBs by hand (I don't have an internet connection...), but I continue to have this issue even if I updated to Ubuntu 11.04, with Libreoffice included in official CD.

Re: I can't import PDF
What application have you tried to open the pdf file with?PDFs are opened as simple ASCII text.
The PDF_Import works only in Draw program, but not work in Writer. And it have a limited capability of editing. You can edit the texts (as LABELS), or you can edit, change the pictures, other objects...

Re: I can't import PDF
As stated previously the PDF Import Extension is the only way to open a PDF file. It will open in Draw for very limited editing. If you have the PDF Import Extension installed and open a PDF file it will always open in Draw.

The fact is I have PDF import but I can't import in Draw. See the list of my installed packages in the first post.
Re: I can't import PDF
Try the LO version http://www.libreoffice.org/. You might also want to update the extension. Does the PDF Import Extension show in Tools-->Extension Manager? If not its not installed.

Re: [Solved] I can't import PDF
I want to confirm that installing LibO from the latest download (3.4.3), rather than the 3.4.2 in the openSuse repo, seemed to correct the problem in LIbO 3.4.2. In 3.4.3, I installed the PDF Install extension, which came first as ver. 1.0.4 but I was able to update to 1.0.5 easily. PDF's open now in a spreadsheet. Still haven't figured out the way to get the PDF into a DOC file, however.

You can't. The extension can't use the Writer.konsultor wrote:Still haven't figured out the way to get the PDF into a DOC file, however.
