Top toolbar

Post by Snowman »

The new version of Open Office 3.3

With this version functions such as Bold, Bullet points, text size have been removed from the top tool bar and placed on a drop down list. This is annoying. Is there a way to put them back on the top toolbar?

Thank you

Without seeing a screenshot we can't really know what you're seeing, but it sounds like most of the formatting toolbar is off the edge of the screen. Move the toolbar down to another row to see it all.

Normally, the Formatting toolbar containing the Bold, Bullet points and text size icons are not in the top toolbar. The top toolbar is the Standard toolbar. If the Formatting toolbar has been moved into the top row beside the Formatting toolbar, either widen the window or move the Formatting toolbar to its usual place below the Standard toolbar.

The toolbars can be easily moved (to rearrange, or undock for a floating toolbox): click and hold the handle on the left end of the toolbar, then drag.
The drag handle is a vertical marker on the left end of the toolbar (I see a dotted line, but other linear vertical designs may be in use).
The drop down list is automatically created on the right end of the toolbar when the available space is too small to accomodate all activated icons.

In addition to the above, I would recommend downloading the free Writer Guide; toolbars are discussed in chapter 1 (from page 11) and chapter 16 (from page 437).
OOo 3.3.0, Windows 7 64-bit SP1, planning to add LibreOffice after a bug-fix version of 3.4 is released.
