Post by acknak »

Two general points
- Red icons are unread items, blue/grey are read.
- A star on any topic means you have posted in it

Thread icons:
Image - Announcement
Image - Sticky topic
Image - Read topic
Image - Unread topic
Image - Read topic that you have posted in
Image - Unread topic that you have posted in
Image - Hot topic (animated icon)
Image - Locked topic
Image - Moved topic

Forum icons:
Image - Forum with subforums (which have been read)
Image - Forum with subforums (which are unread)
Image - Link forum

Decorations:
Image - Attachment
Image - Go to last post in the topic
Image - Go to last unread post in the topic
Image - Subforum read
Image - Subforum unread

User-selected decorations:

Oops--do we have one of these somewhere? I remember discussing the icons but I don't remember seeing any key to their meaning. There is a lot of useful information stuffed into those pictures.

I don't think there is one - I already asked. If there is then even DrewJensen doesn't know where it is.
Edit: typo

It's clearly worth a sticky in the Beginner section I think.

I'd say add it as another post onto your Survival Guide announcement - then add a link to the first post as you did the other subjects - or i will do it for you if you like...either way, but that makes the most sense to me.

Done. If there are other items about that, we should create a sticky more descriptive (rather than the basic rules for posting). I'm thinking about the BBCode for example.

I think there is a link to a description on those also..let me look and when I find it I'll update your list or put the list here and let you incorporate it how you see fit - nice job by the way...

Also - the board allows custom bbCodes - have an idea on one or two..but need to practice on the test site first...I'll let yo know.

The Forum with subforums icons are entirely red or entirely blue-grey. This does not tell you if the subforums are the only ones unread. Is the following possible?

Could a version be created where the large round background part is blue-grey whilst the small round foreground part at the bottom right is red? That could be used to show, for instance, that only the root of Setup & troubleshooting has been read.
