System crash and data recovery

Post by Portland_1 »

I was using writer with 5 photos pasted in the file when it crashed my computer right after saving the file. I restarted the computer and openoffice began the data recovery process. When it recovered my file it prompted me with the ascII window and then it produces a document which is 1189 pages of the # sign. The file is 6.5 MB and has not been modified or resaved since the recovery process. I did not have auto backup turned on when I was working on the paper so a backup file does not exist. Is there anyway to recover this file? I have looked through the threads here and I have not had any luck following the previous advice given. Any help would be great.

I'm sorry for you, but if # signs is all that's left, the file is lost.
