[Solved] Merging PDF files

Post by dhduncan »

I am hoping someone can help me with this. I am hoping to create a document that will combine numerous pdf files that I have so that I can save them as one pdf file. I see where I can export as pdf but not where I can import a pdf. Is this possible?

Thanks!

Heather

Not within OOo. I use PDF Creator http://www.pdfforge.org/ to combine pdf files.

My suggestion:
PDFTK Builder, http://www.angusj.com/pdftkb/
Tibor Kovacs, Hungary; LO7.5.8 /Win7-10 x64Prof.
PortableApps/winPenPack: LO3.3.0-7.6.2;AOO4.1.14
Please, edit the initial post in the topic: add the word [Solved] at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.

You can import PDF files into OOo with the SUN PDF Import Extension: http://extensions.services.openoffice.o ... /pdfimport. But don't expect too much. It's hard to edit imported PDF files afterwards, because they "only" get imported into OOo Draw.

To glue several PDF files together I use iText: http://itextpdf.com/. It's useful if you want to do it with Java.

Hi, I have a good question that goes along with this thread, so I will post it here. I'm doing a project where I have to combine text with assorted PDF files. So I will have to add some explanation text, and a section/chapter title, plus the PDFs below it. Then I want to combine everything into one large pdf file. So basically, I want to splice many typed OO documents in between many pdf files, and merge everything all together.

Since OO is my preferred word program, does anyone know if there are any pdf merge programs that would allow me to add my OO documents to a pdf?

As an afterthought, I know that OO can be converted to pdf, and that's very cool. I just wondered if there was an easier way to do it, instead of having to save all the small OO documents into PDF first.

I don't think there is any application that could do such process.

Note that there is also PDF Toolkit with its GUIPDFTK graphical interface to merge files.

Sometimes, it's quicker to redo the PDF in OOo than spending time with multiple operations to save the files separately and then merge them.
