Crossed out text

Post by uldics »

Is there a way to make a text piece crossed out?

What I mean is - I have a text, then I select a word and need it crossed out. Like strikethrough, but big cross over it. There is font effect with small X'es, but I wish it bigger - from all four corners of the word (selection).

The X's seem quite big to me.

This is exactly what I do not want. I want one X from all four corners.

Apart from firing up the "Draw" toolbar and getting handy with a couple of lines:

That is kinda cumbersome, when I need a lot of those. I got a bit better (but not good enough) way. I draw a rectangle without border and make it cross-hatch 45 degrees. It does not cover long words, but it is a bit easier to copy-paste many times. But I still wish it better. Maybe someone knows a macro or something that can do it for me?

You could strike out your text using the -- (Format / Character / Font Effects / Strikeout) and then highlight the word using the font highlighter on the toolbar. But it is cumbersome.

Another method might be to Edit / Changes and turn on change tracking and display (see Help file, search for changes).
