OpenOffice with iMac

Hello there
I have a new iMac Snow Leopard. I have downloaded OpenOffice but when I try to use it a window pops up saying
"Either another instance of OpenOffice.org is accessing your personal settings or your personal settings are locked. Simultaneous access can lead to inconsistencies in your personal settings. Before continuing, you should make sure user 'ailsacowan' closes OpenOffice.org on host "Ailsa-Cowans-iMac.local". I have no idea what I should do. Can anyone help, please?
