Please answer the following questions, along with describing your problem or question.

Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using:2.3.1
What Operating System (version) are you using:WINDOWS XP

Your question:I do not have any expensive Microsoft Office software on my computer and I keep getting e-mails with the following extensions---.xlsx, dot,docx etc. from MICROSOFT OFFICE 2007. I seem to be have trouble opening these type files with OPEN OFFICE? How do I open these type files?

Have you read the Forum Survival Guide?

Did you try a search first? A quick search for "docx" found this thread: .docx files, which I think should answer your question.
