Saving files incrementally each time ctrl+s is pressed

I've had to drop a class in college because my computer froze and I lost all of the work I had done for that class in OOo due to the file returning nothing but pound signs. Apparently pressing ctrl+s every few seconds is no longer secure, so I wanted to know if I could have OO save a new file every time I press ctrl+s. This way, although I'll have literally thousands of files, I can go back to the most recent file and I have many to choose from in case more become corrupted. So, does anyone have any instructions on how I can do this? I don't want to be forced to mess up my grades again.

Is there a way I can execute the code every time I press ctrl+s?

Set the macro to that shortcut (Tools>Customize and Keyboard tab).
