Can I transfer a WordPerfect Mailing List to OOo?

Post by quiltnanc »

I have a mailing list on Word Perfect and would like to put it on OO.
Can I do this or do I have to start new? Also can I add names and have them automatically be in Alphabetical order?
I am a very beginner and don't understand all the terminology.

If you can get your mailing list out of Wordperfect in a text format, then yes. Again, yes, you can add names and have them automatically be in Alphabetical order. The concept is to get your mailing list into a database that OO.o can work with and then register this database with OO.o so it incorporates the data into OO.o's suite of products.

If you search Google for the phrase "open office mail merge" you will understand the concepts a little better.
Here is one of those hits that talk about doing what you want and then taking that and performing a mail merge with it: http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wik ... readsheets

A little off-topic from your immediate question, but here is a quick example of CREATING A NEW mailling list for use in OO.o Base product: http://www.ehow.com/how_4761361_create- ... ffice.html
If someone posts a fix for your question, then please post a quick thank you and then go to your first post, use the edit button to add [Solved] as the first word of the title so other people can rely on the fix as well.
