MS Publisher

Post by paulmayuk »

Hi to all. I'm new to openOffice and was wondering if anyone can help. I have a lot of files that have been produced using MS Publisher. I have tried to open them but there doesn't appear to be anythong in the pop up list filter i can use. Is it possible to open these files or am i going to have to re-design them in write or similar :?: . All answers appreciated.

OpenOffice Writer handles text input and relatively simple formatting, which in many cases is suitable for publication output.

If your Publisher files are complex you might better consider a dedicated Page Layout/Publishing program such as (commercial) Pagemaker (discontinued) or Adobe Indesign, or the open source Scribus.

Officially there is no direct conversion of Publisher files into OpenOffice, but a Google search might throw up some utilities. Be advised that all such conversions, if they exist, can be of mixed quality.

Sadly nothing opens Publisher files apart from Publisher.
