Old unanswered posts

Post by ccornell »

Is there a way we can clear out the old unanswered posts (particularly from the archived forum postings)?

Also... announcement type postings.... example the one about the new 2.3.1RC1 release. Is there a way that these can be excluded from the unanswered post view?

Just asking because I can see the unanswered post view becoming really large rather quickly... which will make it somewhat unusable in the future.

I opt for excluding the archive, too.

And it would be nice if a flag for announcements ("no answer needed") could be set, so such a post will be excluded from "unanswered" listing.
Cheers

Yes, I can remove the archive stuff -

Do we want them on the board at all, or just removed from searches...

My vote is to remove them from the board completely, as they are all still on the test site board anyway - wrong decision to bring them over here I guess.

So, if no one objects I'll remove the items, say later tonight - OK.

I'm good with simply archiving them off somewhere... pretty much everything in that locked section is... of little or no interest to most (if not all) people coming to the forum.

OK - actually I don't need to remove them even , I can just create a special group - make the archive viewable only to that group and hide it from everyone else. They will disappear from the search results. In fact I'll do that right now...they archive forum should wink out from peoples view then in a few minutes - if someone wants to actually look at it I can just add you into the group as needed.

That is the best solution. Cool.. The more we tinker with phpBB the more I like it :-)

DONE - the archive forum should have gone away from everyones view and should not show up in the search functions any more.
