[Solved] Spreadsheet suddenly truncated at row 749

Post by carrc99x »

OpenOffice 4.1.6, Windows 10 64 bit. My spreadsheet has suddenly been truncated at row 749. I cannot find any help as to how to ADD (not insert) rows. In any case row 749 is well short of the maximum number of rows.

Welcome to the Forums.
Can you insert rows? If not, then, for some reason, the last row 1048576 has something in it and all of the rows from 750 to 1048576 have been hidden.
Can you see any row numbers after 749?

I can insert rows. When I insert a row I then have an empty 749 row & the original 749 is then numbered as 750. When I delete row 749 I then get a new last row numbered 1048576 with nothing in between row 749 & row 1048576.

You can confirm the extent of your sheet with Ctrl+End; this key combination takes you to the bottom right of the cell area that is in use.

Ctrl+End goes to row 749 on the original spreadsheet i.e. without row 1048576 included as described in previous reply.

The question refers to the file format in which you save your spreadsheet rather than the type of file system you use; native ODF format (.ods) or something else.

Then .ods is correct.

Since you can insert a row above 749, what happens if you insert that row (now giving you access to row 1048576, according to you), then highlight everything from 750 to 1048576 (which, it sounds like, will look like 2 rows), then right click on one of those row numbers, then select Show?

Has your file ever been saved in .xls format, or edited on another computer in such format?
