[Solved] Unable to open Excel workbook

I have just started with OpenOffice 4.1.6 so am total beginner.
I opened one of my Excel xlsm workbooks in OpenOffice and saved it as an ods file.
Then I tried to open another Excel xlsm workbook and OpenOffice gave me a list of options and then said something about a graphics file.
I opened it in Excel and saved it as a straightforward xlsx file.
I am still unable to open in in OpenOffice.
Can anyone help me please?

I think I've solved this one - the file was originally password-protected. I removed that and then was able to open in OpenOffice
