[solved] validity check

Hi - Had and instance where a figure 8W was entered by mistake in a column that should be just numbers. I tried using the validity being whole numbers with a pop-up that says - "Must be a whole number". This worked for 8W but I get the message for just 8 as well now. What is going on here?
