[Solved] AutoFill and custom sort list

Post by jjon »

It took me forever just to figure out how to define a custom sort list (Letter Grades: A+ A A- B+ etc. With 0 and X at the end). Fine and good. But then I discovered that if I entered an 'x' in the top cell of a column and tried to 'fill down' with identical values by dragging, my new custom sort list is what got filled in. Is there any way to disable a sort list such that it only 'fills down' when explicitly invoked?

If you hold down the CTRL key while dragging, the fill will repeat the value you entered.

Oh Man! Could it really be that easy? <slapsForeheadWithPalm/> Yes. It really is! How do you find out obvious stuff like that?

I found it in the Help under sort lists;applying.
"Hold down Ctrl if you do not want to fill the cells with different values."
